How To Upload Files To MySpace
MySpace provides a platform to create online communities with common interests who can interact with each other, meet new friends including probable romantic partners, share ideas and information. By default MySpace provides solid background colors to create members’ websites. It may not truly reflect a member’s interests or his/her personality which may be necessary because of the social character of MySpace websites. Adding member’s photos or other pictures to the website may throw some light on member’s personality. This article discusses a few issues related to uploading photos and other files to MySpace websites.
Guidelines for uploading pictures to MySpace
One must remember while uploading his/her photo to MySpace website that it may be viewed by both members and non members. Hence photos that may embarrass fiends, relatives, neighbors or bosses should be avoided. Careful choice of the photo is necessary before uploading it. It is not mandatory to place the member’s photo on the website. But many prefer to do it as it would give a visual image and a reflection of their personality to persons visiting the website.
Parents should be careful while permitting their children to post their photos. These photos may be viewed by potential trouble makers who like to prey upon children with ulterior motives. Hence parents should decide whether to post their children’s photos at all. They may instead put up pictures of their children’s favorite hobbies, cartoon characters, pet animals etc. which are general in nature and would not lead to any misuse. However no copyright violation should arise while posting these pictures.
Uploading pictures to MySpace
The process of uploading photos or videos to MySpace is fairly easy. After logging in to the account, he/she must choose the link ‘Add/edit photos’. A warning regarding posting offensive images like nudity, violence or copyrighted material then appears on the screen. The photos can be made visible to the member only or everyone by making the choice on the screen. The picture to be posted can be chosen by browsing the already existing list of pictures on the hard disk. The size of the image should be less than 600Kb and should be of .gif or .jpg type only. Clicking on the upload button will add the picture to the member’s account. A caption for the picture can also be included in it.
For adding video clips, one can add either one’s own video clip or choose from popular ones that MySpace offers by searching through the list. Again just like pictures, video clips may be viewed either only by the member or by all. Posting of video clips that violate the terms of use of MySpace like copyrighted material, depicting violence, pornography etc. may result in cancellation of membership.
